the first in a portrait series. image of a friend, in honour of the women in my life who struggle to love themselves. the full bodied women who see weight to be removed where I see beauty and strength. bodies that have birthed children. that endure the strain of chronic illness. that have experienced trauma. bodies, that despite their challenges, deserve to be called art. deserve to experience the heights of pleasure, opposing the depths of the pain they know too well. this is an image of softness, and intentional vulnerability with self.
